Embark on a Cultural Tour of Albania that takes you on a 10-day journey through history, culture, and natural beauty. This carefully crafted itinerary will allow you to experience the richness of Albanian heritage, from its vibrant capital, Tirana, to the stunning coastal towns and UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Your Cultural Tour begins as you depart from Italy and arrive at Tirana airport. After meeting your guide, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy a welcome dinner and get a good night’s rest in the lively capital of Albania, Tirana.
After breakfast, the Cultural Tour continues with a visit to Tirana’s most iconic landmarks: Skanderbeg Square, Ethem Bey Mosque, and the fascinating Hoxha’s atomic bunker. Following lunch (on your own), we’ll head to Durres. Here, you’ll explore the impressive Amphitheater of Durres, the ancient Villa of Durres, and the modern aspects of the city. Overnight stay in Durres.
On Day 3 of the Cultural Tour, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Berat, also known as the “City of a Thousand Windows.” You’ll explore Berat Castle, and the Museum of Icons. Afterward, we’ll travel to Apollonia, one of Albania’s most significant archaeological sites, to visit the ruins and the Monastery of Santa Maria. We will finish the day by arriving in Vlora, where we will stay overnight.
A beautiful coastal journey awaits on Day 4 of the Cultural Tour as we head towards Saranda, making a scenic stop at Llogara Pass, for breathtaking views. After lunch (on your own), we’ll explore Butrint National Park, another UNESCO World Heritage site rich in history. Overnight in Saranda.
After breakfast, we depart for Gjirokaster, a UNESCO-listed town. Along the way, we stop to admire the famous Blue Eye, a mesmerizing natural spring. In Gjirokaster, you’ll visit the castle, the Arms Museum, and wander through the old town. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay in Gjirokaster.
On Day 6, our journey continues through Kelcyra and Permet, a town known for its thermal springs and scenic landscapes. We’ll then head to Korça, where we’ll visit the Medieval Art Museum, the traditional market, and the first Albanian school. Overnight in Korça.
After breakfast, we visit Voskopoje, a picturesque village with its remarkable churches. In the afternoon, we head to Pogradec, located by the serene shores of Lake Ohrid. Here, we will enjoy some leisure time and stay overnight in a local hotel.
After a relaxing morning in Pogradec, we continue to Elbasan, a city known for its historical significance. After a city tour, we’ll return to Tirana for an overnight stay. Enjoy a farewell dinner in the capital.
On Day 9 of your Cultural Tour, we explore Shkodra, visiting the impressive Rozafa Castle and the historic city center. After lunch (on your own), we head to Kruja, the hometown of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg, and visit his Castle and National Museum. We’ll return to Durres for your last overnight stay.
On the final day, enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport for your flight back to Italy.
