Daily Trip to Elbasan

About this tour

At 9:00 we will pick you up at your hotel in Tirana and travel to Elbasan, in the hinterland of Albania. After a 45-kilometer journey, we will arrive at our destination and begin a guided tour of the Albanian town. It will be love at first sight!
First of all, we will explore Elbasan Castle, a 15th-century fortification which, despite retaining only two towers and part of its walls, came to have the beauty of twenty-six towers. During the tour, we will retrace the history of the Via Ignazia, a natural continuation of the Via Appia and trade route that connected the various Roman colonies from the Adriatic Sea to Byzantium.
We will fully immerse ourselves in local history and culture by visiting the Ethnographic Museum of Elbasan. After exploring the different rooms of this interesting exhibition space, we will continue our walk through the city center, in the direction of the Naziresha Mosque.
Are you starting to feel peckish? You will have an hour of free time to recharge your batteries in a local restaurant. Once our appetite is satisfied, we will leave Elbasan and head towards the church of St. Nicholas in Shelcan. In this suggestive temple, we will contemplate the wonderful frescoes by Onufri, a famous Albanian painter and priest.
Finally, we will return to Tirana and we will conclude the tour by taking you back to the hotel around 6:00 pm.
